(Today, rapidly rising, genre-disrupting, singer, songwriter, and producer A.CHAL released his new single and music video for “Nobody Like Me.”

“Nobody Like Me” was produced by Connect & Subelo Neo — known for working with Bad Bunny. The track is a fresh sound that mixes R&B, alternative, and reggaetón with English lyrics and some Spanish phrases that talk about losing a love and how that person’s never going to find “nobody like me.”

You goin’ call it what you call it/ I’m a real one just be honest/How you left me got me heartless/I know one thing I still got you, A.CHAL sings as he introduces the story in the song.

You know I’m in yo’ head like a melody/I know you tryna feel how you felt with me/Girl you know nobody like me, he continues, masterfully mixing these very relatable lyrics with his silky voice over a familiar reggaetón beat and R&B flow creating a multicultural experience that perfectly showcases his style and personality.

The music video was directed by A.CHAL himself together with Chuck Owens and produced by GAZI WORLD. It was shot in New York City at 10th Avenue NY, a club in Dyckman Street, in the neighborhood of Inwood, Manhattan.

“I had a totally different video planned for ‘Nobody Like Me,’” said A.CHAL. “I was visiting New York during the pandemic and was supposed to fly back to LA to shoot this whole other idea. Being in NYC, I had fallen back in love with the city and stayed longer. I was tapping back in with the community I knew out there and I got inspired all over again.

The day I missed my flight I met with my boy and director Chuck Owens just to grab a coffee but told him I had this urge to shoot something in the city, just didn't know what. Later that night, Jo Vanguard invited me to this private party in Yonkers and I went with Nour (model from video). I don't know if it was hookah but that night I saw the whole video in my head. I folded up a piece of paper and drew out the whole story/shot list, met with Chuck, showed him the treatment and what other videos inspired me.

By the next day, we're already calling everyone we know trying to produce this idea and shooting it two weeks later. This video was done with people I consider family. It's what we call in Spanish ‘Una Obra de Amor.’

I wanna thank Miguel Plaza for letting me shoot at his club 10th Avenue NY in Dyckman and Jo Vanguard for plugging me in. NATTY & Sammi who I've known forever to come through with the styling. Nour & Mike Troll, real close friends of mine who brought the characters to life to give the video that feeling it really needed. This was a new process, we usually have a label sorting everything out, and being this hands-on can be challenging, but I love it and I am excited to direct more videos to tell stories I wanna tell. Stay tuned.”

After taking 2020 to work on his music and releasing highly-acclaimed “Pink Dust,” “Hollywood Love” feat. Gunna, and “WHO U,” A.CHAL is back and better than ever, presenting the result of a year of introspection and self-awakening, with more personal lyrics and sounds exploring the concept of love, peace, and his culture.

ABOUT A.CHAL

Born in Lima, Peru as a descendant of the Quechua people, A.CHAL was raised between the cities of Trujillo, Peru and Queens, New York. Because of his multiculturalism, A.CHAL developed a unique sound punctuated with a fusion of indigenous Peruvian sounds, modern trap-soul sonics, and the sounds he consumed growing up on the east coast of the U.S., where he admired icons such as DMX, the Diplomats, Lil Wayne, and Pharrell. He defies standard R&B tropes with a sleek voice, an eclectic sonic palette, and his ingenuity in speaking about emotions at their rawest form. His unique brand of music has caught the attention of some of the culture’s most notable purveyors, from Apple Music’s global creative director Zane Lowe, Berluti’s creative director Kris Van Assche, perfumer and founder of Byredo, Ben Gorham, and global Latin artists like J. Balvin and ROSALÍA.

Eventually, A.CHAL moved coasts, setting in Los Angeles where he put together what would become his first project, Ballroom Riots. Subsequently securing a publishing deal with Sony/ATV, he landed his first major songwriting and production placement with Jennifer Lopez. In 2016, he released his first full length project Welcome to Gazi independently, which garnered him attention from the likes of Drake’s OVO, Virgil Abloh and A$AP Rocky. By 2017, he earned his first RIAA Gold-certification for his single “Love n Hennessey” (a subsequent remix featuring 2 Chainz and Nicky Jam), taken from his acclaimed EP, ON GAZ. Featuring his fastest growing single to-date, “000000,” and his first full Latin song, “La Dueña,” the project continued his sonic evolution. Along the way, A.CHAL received acclaim across the board, with outlets like Tidal naming him a “rising artist” and Forbes recently calling him “the emerging Latinx artist you won’t be able to ignore this year.” Additionally, he received praise from the likes of Billboard, Paper, Noisey, The FADER, Flaunt, i-D, Hypebeast, Highsnobiety, Remezcla and more.
