His Upcoming Debut Album Is To Be Titled Canciones Del Alma
The talented Puerto Rican singer and songwriter Luis Figueroa offers a preview of his new album cycle with his single and video “Hasta El Sol De Hoy” (Until Today’s Sun). This single is out now on all digital-music outlets via Sony Music Latin/Magnus Media, and the music video can be enjoyed on his YouTube channel.
“Hasta El Sol De Hoy” comes in two versions, acoustic and salsa, both of which will be included on his upcoming debut album Canciones Del Alma (Songs From the Soul). This project reinvents many of Luis’ favorite songs with cozy acoustic-framed arrangements that highlight his voice.
Written by Oscar Domingo Derudi, this song first rose to prominence in 1993 when it was recorded by Edgar Joel y Su Orquesta, whose vocalist at the time was Anthony Colón, Luis’ uncle and a Philadelphia native like Luis himself.
Produced by Luis Figueroa and arranged by the Ecuadorian musician Homero Gallardo, the acoustic version graces this classic of the salsa romántica genre with a gorgeous interplay of guitar and vocals. We can appreciate all the passion and optimism that Luis puts into the lyrics that speak of hope of reconciliation after a breakup.
The salsa version, which is to be included on the album as a bonus, is a throwback to Luis’ roots in tropical music, and was produced by Jay Lugo (Víctor Manuelle) in Puerto Rico.
Luis points out that “Hasta El Sol De Hoy” is a song that he knows and loves thoroughly: “‘Hasta El Sol De Hoy’ talks about not losing faith and hope in love. It’s one of those songs that lives within me, that has transformed me into the artist that I am today. It is one of my songs from the soul.”
And that’s the kind of material we will find on his upcoming album Canciones Del Alma, featuring songs that were key to the musical formation of the artist who as a boy was asked by visiting salsa singers to join them on stage thanks to his stunning voice.
The music videos for both versions were filmed in Miami by the Argentine director Leonardo Linkowski.

Luis Figueroa is one of the most promising artists of this decade. A graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, he toured as a backing vocalist for Romeo Santos and generated incredible buzz after duetting on “Flor Pálida” with Marc Anthony at the 2016 Premios Juventud.
