On Friday, Melii fans were surprised to hear the Harlem rapper’s first single “Icey” featured on Adidas and Beyoncé’s spot of the third collection of their collaborative partnership. With the name Icy Park,” the collection is all about bringing the streets to the slopes, mixing the classic alpine style with the unparalleled street flow to bring to life an array of apparel, footwear, and accessories. “I’m speechless!Melii said when finding out Beyoncé had used her song for her campaign, which also came as a surprise for the young rapper. “This is so motivational, she really let my record play,” she added.

“Icey” was released in 2018 as Melii’s debut single after the success her 2017 remix of Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow'' had. It has over 11 million streams of Spotify and over 2 million views on YouTube.

The song came about when she was in the recording studio enjoying herself and she started freestyling. She didn’t think too much of it, and just let things flow, resulting in a song with empowering confidence and a shattering delivery, situating herself on top of the world, and with the world in her hands.

The song has a club-feel to it, which is what Melii loved. “When I was uptown, I was asking myself what will girls be thinking at the club,” she once said in an interview. “I want to empower women, connect and brag with anyone who are feeling themselves.”

That’s why “Icey” is such a perfect fit for this campaign, which seeks to inspire creativity, individuality, and imagination, featuring a diverse set of collaborators that show a more accurate representation of the country we live in now, including Melii’s ultra-Dominican hook “Tu me tiene’ dema / Cuida’o si me toca’ te quema,” which at the time was unprecedented as we hadn’t really heard authentic Dominican Spanish in a mainstream hip-hop English song without it being the forced and overused “mamacita” and its derivatives.

This campaign once again proved Melii’s music is timeless, and she’s just starting to leave her legacy on this world. Currently, Melii’s latest single “You Ain’t Worth It” featuring 6BLACK has garnered over 3 million streams on Spotify and almost 2 millions views on YouTube. “You Ain’t Worth It,” is an empowering “ex-anthem” that calls attention to the story of lovers at odds, detailing the lows of fickle relationships. The track garnered high praise by Variety, Billboard, Complex, NYLON, XXL and more.
